Lisa, Jeff, Juli, Brigid and I are up on the roof of the Sri Samai Hotel doing laundry, it is quite an experience. Jeff brought his radio up too. I hope I don’t associate Bonnie Raitt with doing laundry! The Thai women keep coming out and watching us , then they giggle and run back inside. They are washing out sheets and towels. We didn’t have enough clothes pins and the hotel lady was glaring at us for using theirs. I ran across the street and “baht” some (ha ha – baht is the Thai word for money). Two packs for yee-sip baht, and some rambutan, 16 baht a kilo. Yumm! The experience of crossing the street was quite invigorating, and then a jaunt through the market, and speaking Thai (or trying to), too fun. The market is something to see, smell and hear. Incredible! Vendors have their wares out for sale, mostly food items, fruits and vegetables that I don’t recognize, but I am learning. There is also clothes, toys, flowers, everything you can imagine. Its great! Plus we have learned how to eat rambutan, that is a happy face. Darcy Neils (cd) Secretary showed us how to eat em.
Lisa and I are going to the floating restaurant today. We plan to explore the river. We are having such a great time, like camping – at the fair.
In class yesterday we learned some Thai. This is my name: Tracy = เทรซี่
